P A P E R decorations {patterns}

We still don't know where we'll be for Christmas. Not only, we are still unpacking since we just moved. We really don't have much, we need furniture, lamps, all kind of things. And.. I don't think we'll have a Christmas tree this year.. I know sad.
But I like this ideas of making things yourself with p a p e r. Little resources, it's exactly where I'm at and I really love this ideas and patterns by artist Jurianne Matter.

My absolute favorites are this adorable angels. I love to read the words of Jurianne Matter in the making of this adorable little pieces and finding out where they ended up. I can see how each one of them is so precious to her.
{everything by the great artist Jurianne Matter. Her Angels are available for purchase. Find it here.
How lovely she even gave out the pattern for the Paper Christmas Tree and the pattern for the Danish Paper stars} {via Decor8}

personal calendar, or time for a journal {tutorial}

I feel like it gets harder everyday to be able to do everything you have in mind. One of the things I'd like to be able to do again, is to write my journal in a regular bases. But.. yea.. I'm certainly not there yet.
Maybe that's why I love so much this idea! I think it is genius. Few words, and there you go. Sometimes that's all you need, an organized piece of paper to write on..

It looks very easy to make. I think it is a great idea for a gift. This great idea and tutorial is by Design Sponge.

baby shower is here

Honestly, I have no clue what to get for baby boys. I know my bad. I've asked around for hints, but I think my problem is that I always want to find something special and unique. And usually I like to make things myself, you know handmade. I think you can always come out with something original when you put your hands in action with your ideas. Only, again, this time I'm a little restricted to do so, but I've still looked around for some ideas.

Oh there's so many talented ladies out there, and so many cute things to put eyes on.  I know, I went from baby finders to older kids beautiful things, but who can stop now? I think I spent hours and the hours have become days. Now I just can't stop but to keep looking for adorable baby and kids things.

The Sketchbook Project

my husband was just telling me how I should get back to drawing.. OOOH yes I need to. And  he was saying I should go get the stuff I need since I'm in Switzerland (where Im from) and I know where to get them. Only the shop I usually used to go is in Como, Italy. I don't think I'll be going to Como in the next week. I'm going home in only a week yahoooooo!!!
Anyways, I was looking around and ooh I fell on to this awesome project. This is just perfect, isn't?

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

It's a little different then what I'm used to but now you tell me if this isn't just perfect for a creative soul looking to express herself.

I love the idea, I love the work. I'm on it, I want to do it. It will be SO much fun :) I actually think my husband and I should make one together. His answer was "let's do it!". Yesssss even better!!!
Now all we need is to choose a theme and color.. hmmmmm. Knowing myself I might need to make more then one of this.

{little-project} will start this year

The past year I've been collecting little projects I want to make for our kids, and with our kids. Due to the fact I'm not even pregnant with our first this might sound a little crazy, but I don't care. This year as soon as I can I'm gonna start something and I can't wait.

This are a couple I've just added to the oh very long list. I just love the colored tee-pee and the fact my husband when I told him about it, said we should make one in our living-room even now just for ourselves :) Love my honey sooooo much!
Strawberries are my favorite, so I think this one is more for me hahaha :)

{tee-pee pict. via Lavande and Limes, strawberry sachets by Terrain via Lifeflix. It is extremely easy to make but if you need patterns and tutorials are all over. A few for you: by Lifeflix,  Bread and Button and Moda Bake Shop}

Rain-boots painted by.. YOU

I love to put colors in to gray rainy days.
For some reason in Europe winter and gray days are usually colored by dark tints. And here I'm talking mostly about Switzerland, Italy and the countries around it. I don't really get it, I mean usually when it rains it's already gray enough. Why then put on a black jacket, black shoes, black skirt and .. black umbrella? Oh you rarely see an umbrella that sticks out of the normal black, and that would be... mine hahahahaha!
I put color whenever there is a chance. My umbrella is red, my boots brown (always better then black), and scarfs are made to have one of each color you like :)

Keiner zu klein, Künstler zu sein ~ None is too young to become an artist

"There's no way I want to have my kids grow up in dark boots and dark umbrella".

Couple years ago, this was one of the reasons I was giving myself to move out of the beautiful city of Zürich that I loved so much, but where it rains and it's grey 9 months a year:

Thank goodness, art and colors are available now:
Art-painting days at Globus all around Switzerland.
For only SFR.10.- you get a pair of kids boots and you get to use all the accessories to make your very own piece of art on it. Love the idea! Great price too :) Vive la Suisse!!

rain drops..

perfect weather to make some candles

Wow how long is it been since I've made some of this??? Way too long. Silver and I did enjoy using some new technics in the making of some very beautiful candles. I had never even heard of ice candles before.
I should post an how to one of this days. For now I think this is a very cute one and very, very simple way to spend an afternoon in cozy sweat and socks :)

Teacup Candle

How to Make Candles
You'll need wax, wicks, putty, a pencil, and a candy thermometer, all of which can be found at a craft store such as Michaels. Wax is sold in blocks, sheets, and shavings, to be melted on a stove or in a microwave.

Pouring the Wax
Wrap one end of the wick around a pencil. Set pencil on egg cup, suspending the wick. With putty, secure wick's metal clip to bottom of cup. In a double boiler, melt wax according to package directions; use a candy thermometer to gauge temperature. Pour wax in cup; allow to fully cool. Trim wick to 1/4 inch. Now.. enjoy!

{calendar} 2010

I love calendars. I don't know why. I still have to figure it out.
I usually have around more then one, and usually it's cause I love the pictures on it. I love those big photography of food delights for my kitchen, cute drawings for the bedroom, and some of beautiful Swiss scenery (since I'm faraway) for the living room.
But don't take me wrong, beside the pictures I'm that kind of person that has to write down everything to not forget them. So I do have my lists all over the places. I do prefer calendars by far.. ooh every year I need to make sure I don't "over collect" them hahaha :)

Advent Calendar 2009

This year despite all my plans to do and make things for people I'm ending up doing nothing. But Thank goodness for friends.. Yep THANK YOU!
Cause when it comes to hard times, the good friends are the one that make a difference :)

My advent Calendar this year is a beautiful one made by my dear friend Cathrin, love u girl!

Some of the messages I found in my advent calendar:

" a little boy is crying on his knotty chair.. and he tells his mother.. "
"if you're raising me right, how come I get into SO much trouble??.." :)
{Dennis The Menace by Ketcham}

"Love is what's in a room with you at Christmas,if you stop opening presents and listen."
{Bobby- age7} WOW!

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said:
"Nothing, I just helped him cry."

"Love is like a little old woman and little old man who are still friends
even after they know each other so well."

paper blooming INTO flowers!

I'm trying to decide how to make our Christmas Cards this year. I need to go the cheapest ever, but I like the handmade stuff... so that could be tricky.

When I saw this I couldn't believe it! But yep, it can totally work. It reminds me when I was little and in elementary school we made paper. Makes me want to add some seeds now in it, cause this is a great idea.
Cards can be beautiful, but how many of them end up in the trash leaving nothing??

And I have to say I even like the design on it. They've made such a great veriety of cards for any occasion. From favor tags, business cards to Christmas Cards..

To know more about how this works, who makes it, the great design behind it and where you can buy it, well it's all by Botanical Paper Work. Check out their photo gallery of "paper in bloom"! Fantastic!

{Christmas} a new kinda wreath

Paper-Doily Wreath
{by Martha Stewart - how to}

I wasn't looking to make any wreath for Christmas, but this one really got my attention.
It is for sure very different from what I'm used to. I usually like the real thing. You know what I mean? Well, real fir branches, fir cones and so on.
But what I like about this one is the light. The simple magical bright lights effect of candles flickering in the snow.

It doesn't look too hard to make.
All is provided by Martha Stewart , here is the tutorial for you:

Tools and Materials

24-inch wreath form, (from mainewreathco.com)
30-inch wreath form, ( ")
24-gauge wire
white spray paint
20-foot strand of white holiday lights
scissors
paper bouquet holders called "Biedermeiermanschetten"
(here is used ten 8.8-inch ones, twenty 6.4-inch ones, twenty 4.8-inch ones, and fifty 3.2-inch ones) from germanplaza.com

Step 1

working on a covered surface, lay a 24-inch wreath form inside a 30-inch one. Attach them with 24-gauge wire at 6 to 8 evenly spaced points.

Step 2

In a ventilated area, coat combined wreath form with white spray paint. Let dry.

Step 3

Wrap wreath form with a 20-foot strand of white holiday lights (test lights beforehand), leaving the plug end unwrapped (as much as is needed to plug in).

Step 4

With scissors, widen the center-hole slits slightly in paper boyquet holders (here is used 10 8.8-inch ones, 20 6.4-inch ones, 20 4.8-inch ones, and 50 3.2-inch ones). Poke a finger through center hole of each bouquet holder (from front to back) to create openings lare enough to accommodate a lightbulb.

Step 5

Beginning with largest ones, place bouquet holders evenly around wreath, slipping a light through each hole so that bulb bases, not bulbs, rest against paper. (From time to time, hang wreath, and step back to ensure that the arrangement is balanced and attractive).

Step 6

Add remaining bouquet holders in descending size order, Use smallest bouquet holders to cover centers of larger ones and to fill in any gaps. Hang near an outlet. Unplug when unattended.
